we had a wonderful day today, hanging out with the family and playing. we took lots of pictures and video, it may take a bit to upload but here's a start...

Surprise!!

Papa and Mimi and Auntie C just drove to Boulder and surprised us for
Sayan's birthday!! So happy!

We made it!! And Granma had the coolest pool with balls set up for
him. So we stripped him down and he is having the time of his life!

Funny lips

He's been such a good sport so far, he was pretty fussy and fidgety
when he first woke up (he slept for two hours as we left FF) but we
were able to distract him for another half hour. He let us put him
back in the seat with no complaint and has been snacking and medium
maintenance since then.

He's been making this funny lip face where he sticks out his lower lip
for a few days not sure of it's teething related or just a new
expression :)

On the road

Just leaving Fairfield, Daddy did an amazing job packing the car.
We'll see how far we get before our first stop. Ottumwa maybe? ;)

the boys had a blast at playgroup on wednesday, lots of splashing in the pool-- i posted a bunch more pics from the day on my facebook which is so much more manageable for uploading the pics. i'll try to get the link here.

silly mommy...

...had no idea how big a mess one little boy could make! i stripped him down before his snack today, he was hot and i figured he'd get in the tub soon anyway. as soon as i put him in the high chair i feel a warm spray-- surprise! he pees all over me and the floor.

at first he did a pretty good job feeding himself with his spoon but once we opened the second container of applesauce i guess he was more in the mood to play rather than eat, and voila! you can view the results :)

now i need to go wipe down the high chair, floor, cabinets and everything else within a 10 foot radius!

update

it seems like sayan is learning new things every day. he has been saying "yeah, yes" in response to us. not sure if he is fully aware of what he is saying, it could just be his way of acknowledging that we are talking to him. though we will ask if he wants to turn the page and he'll say "yes" and turn it. or we'll ask if he wants to go for a walk or drink some water, "yeah, yes". he also has been saying "mamamamama" and we think he's associating it with me though there isn't a clear "mama" with a reach for me.

sayan is super active these days, very steady on his feet though when we let go of him to stand alone he'll only stay up for a second or two before he lowers himself down. he's crawling everywhere, really enjoying exploring on his own. he pulls himself up on everything (walls included) and only needs to balance one hand or his legs or something.

night time has gotten much smoother too (though i'm scared to write anything i don't want to jinx it!). ever since he had that one night with daddy he's been waking up to nurse only once or twice a night. which is such a difference from every two hours! he may wake up more than once or twice but if i pat him he usually falls right back to sleep. or, the funniest thing is when he sits straight up in bed, says "yes" then keels forward and goes back to sleep!

he has started feeding me recently. it started with food from his high chair tray, he would give me raisins or little pieces of apple or veggies that he had. but now it has progressed to any time he is around food with a spoon he takes it and offers it into my mouth. so sweet!

oh, and thanks for the straw suggestion again gen, he finally understands and will drink from a straw now. he's pretty proud of himself when he does it.

summer adventure

mommy, daddy and sayan are going to have a summer adventure... we are going to take a road trip and spend some time in boulder and in jackson visiting family. our lease is up this summer so we decided to just pack everything up and keep it in storage while we explore the wild west.

sayan loves playing with the packing materials, our living room has become a big jungle gym of boxes, crinkly paper and bubble wrap.

sayan is getting super responsive at waving bye bye-- now we don't need to show him by waving ourselves, we just say "bye bye" and he starts waving and yesterday we were reading a book and he was done with it and closed it and pushed it away and waved "bye bye" to the book!

fun and games

sayan's favorite game these days is when mommy or daddy hides and then jumps out and comes tickle him (just as exciting is when one of us chases him around the house and ends in a tickle). he usually squeals and laughs much more than this video shows but this will give an idea.

lazy weekend

we had a wonderful time last weekend. saturday we strolled around the farmers market then ran into david and sharon sinton at revelations and had a long lunch outside.




sunday we grilled at jefferson county park with some friends and played in the sun...
