we did the 8 hour drive from boulder to jackson on friday. once again sayan did remarkably well. at one point on the drive he just reached over and started flipping through this book... then fell asleep a few minutes later.

so he stands up, then takes a step forward that usually ends up as a pivot then realizes that he's doing it by himself so plops back down :) yay sayan!

lil' gardner

sayan is starting to stand on his own for longer and longer periods-- especially when he is distracted, but as soon as he realizes he's on his own he usually lowers back down. here he is gardening with granma. sorry for the grainy film, this was taken through a screen from the second floor :)

boom (but not)

so it seems sayan's first conscious word, or i guess sound, is "boom"... whenever we drop something (or it is thrown) on the floor we say "boom". we've been saying that for about a month and then a few days ago he dropped his cup on the floor, looked at us and said "boom." then he did it again. and if we just say "boom" he usually will say it right back and laugh. we were trying to get him to say it in this video but he of course declined to perform.

granma's phone died recently so she gave her old one to sayan. a real phone! he is thrilled to have his very own "real phone" though he did get two play phones for his birthday.

here he is playing with it as we listened to music on pearl street a few evenings ago.

water play with colin and miles

sayan had a fun treat when colin, miles and celeste came for a visit. he just adores playing with the "big boys" and they are really good with him. we hope to see them again soon!!

brainard lake

on sunday we drove up to brainard lake and had a nice hike and picnic. it's a much higher elevation (10,000+) and the snow sticks around much much longer. quite a surreal experience hiking through the snow patches in shorts!

boulder farmer's market picnic

we went to the Boulder farmer's market last saturday and had so much fun. tons and tons of great produce and artisan samplings-- cheese, breads, chocolate, granola. we browsed for a bit then loaded up on food from local restaurants (papusas, tamales, thai dumplings and a noodle bowl) and parked ourselves under a tree to listen to the live music. sayan especially enjoyed the black bean and corn papusa and dancing to the maracas.
