update

i realized i haven't given any sayan updates recently, so...

sayan is sitting up (with the help of boppy pillow). we thought to put him in the boppy on the floor a few days before Christmas and it's amazing how quickly his core balance stabilized. when we took him for his 6 month check up last week the doctor was impressed with his sitting abilities. he still can't sit on his own for long periods but we feel comfortable leaving him sitting in the boppy playing with some toys while we are in the kitchen or doing other things around the house.

he's becoming interested in toys as other than something to chew on. i got out little blocks for him last night that i thought would go straight into his mouth but surprisingly he was more into picking them up and moving them around than eating them.

he is getting quite vocal-- he will squeal when he's excited about something and babble and shriek and go "momomomomomomomom" when he's frustrated or hungry.

oh-- and mommy and daddy had their first night out on his 6th month birthday. we have left him during the day but not at night til then. gramma and grampa were here and offered to stay with sayan so we could go to a holiday party. i nursed him at 7:45 and he fell asleep and we thought we'd have til around 9:15 or so. well 9:00 came and went and he was still asleep (he'd woken up about 20 minutes after we left but grampa walked him back to sleep). 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 still asleep! we couldn't believe it. we finally decided to come home at 11:30. we were home for about 5 minutes when i heard a peep on the monitor. i went in and he was just opening his eyes and stretching. he saw me and gave me the biggest smile. pretty perfect timing!
